This discussion reminds me of a situation here in Portland in about 1959 when Portable Equipment Co. was scrapping the Portland Traction interurban cars. The groups were so involved in @#$%& about what number and color one of the cars was to be preserved as that they missed the deadline to mail the scrapper the check for purchase of the car and all that was left once they came to their senses was a smoldering carcass!!!

It doesn't matter what name or number is painted on the side of it; spend your time and effort to keep it RUNNING in spite of the bureaucrats who will likely want to paint it blue and call it Thomas.
