Nice photo at link of Surfliner cab pushing ahead of Superliner coach over trestle. Would be even nicer if the coming concrete structure would permit 3751 to pass over it with a fully loaded tender, but then the Stuart Mesa bridge is the main sticking point on the Surf Line.

Trestles Bridge nearing its end

SAN ONOFRE — Replacement of the 70-year-old wooden Trestles Bridge, the iconic portal to one of California's most legendary surfing spots, begins on Sept. 1, according to SANDAG, the regional planning and engineering agency.

The train bridge on the Orange County-San Diego County line, near San Onofre State Beach, will be replaced over the next two years by a $12 million concrete structure ...
