Key System Wrecker # 1011 is a very historic car. When donated to BAERA//WRM many years ago, it came equipped with a complete set of tools for the re-railing of Transbay trains. It was used by KEY up to the very end of April 20, 1958. It is unique that it is equipped with "siderods" (like a steam locomotive) to help provide greater adhesion.
It was witnessed in the 1940's going more than 40+ mph on the former mainline of the "Richmond Shipyard Railway. And with those siderods flying, was quite a sight to behold.
