Tom, I have found PCC's operations east of Hooper to be about like CSP RailNet during its final year (which was ten years ago, BTW): no two days are alike. Yesterday's run started mid-morning at Sunset with two units and six loads (there were zero cars at Thornton), picked up six more at St. John, then 14 at Willada, four more at Winona, where they also picked up two units and about eight empty ammonia tanks that came in from the east. Tied up at Hooper proper, not at Hooper Jct. Plan was to make the shuttle run to Wallula and back today, but who knows. Assume they'll run east of Hooper the day after the Wallula run.
Next week is supposed to see some 50 cars loading at Thornton, Sunset, St. John. But customer in St. John thinks they'll only pull about 35 loads from these locations on the first trip because two units can't pull much more than that up the hill.
Actual start times and locations are always a guess. It all depends on where they ended their previous trip, and which way they were headed. I've seen them ready to start the day at Thornton with plenty of loads, or start the day somewhere west of there and head east to Thornton or Sunset before turning west. Radio on 160.785, but some of their communication was on cell phone.
