RE: The article about taxpayers subsidizing first class on Amtrak, there is a quote that "Only 16% of Amtrak passengers take advantage of sleeping quarters." Anyone know the percentage of sleeping quarters AVAILABLE compared to the entire passenger seating number? I'd guess it's about 16% based on my only trip on the Empire Builder where all the sleeping quarters were sold out WAY in advance.
