At the time, Kyle Railways owned both the Cal Western and the LK&P on Maui. They traded the CWR diesel to Traveltown in return for Oahu Ry. 4-6-0 #85 and Oahu Sugar 0-6-2T #5, which were sent to the LK&P. The #5 became a static display next to the highway in front of the Lahaina depot. They planned to restore and run the #85; it was disassembled, then the whole project failed. When I visited in 2004, parts of the engine were strewn all over the shop grounds. Recently, the #85 was acquired by the Hawaiian Railway Society at Ewa (on Oahu), where hopefully a better fate awaits.
