SP line from Truckee to Tahoe City

Did a little wandering by the lake this past weekend and found some pics about the SP line. In a photo dated 1926, the train shown was a 3' narrow gauge wood burning 2-6-0 with a name (illegible) on the cab, pulling a boxcar, flatcar and 2 passenger coaches. But another aerial shot taken in the late '30s shows what appears to be a standard gauge steam engine and 4 passenger cars on the pier, next to the SS Tahoe.

Anybody know the history of this line?
