I will not be disrespectful, or disparaging and will not use the "C" word, even in an endearing way, for these Completely Reliable Universally Dependable switch engines.
Photo One: SP SW1500 2578 is in Stockton on January 7, 1973, a very crisp morning!
Photo Two: Southern Pacific SW1500 2632 sits in the dark at Ozol Yard in Martinez, California as a freight passes behind in November 1972.
I have many, many more interesting photos of SW1500's but we will leave the Completely Reliable Universally Dependable switch engines behind after this post. Our journey up the SP roster of the 70s has some very interesting things ahead as we navigate up into the higher 2000s and beyond. I think I see Alco smoke on the horizon...
More information, comments and corrections are appreciated.
