dale: the BAP is famous for reusing ties from many different railroads and nails from several of these lines can be found in their ties. in fact some of the ties have been turned over for reuse and the nails are actually on the bottom of the tie! that 1917 NP nail is really an odd one and almost looks hand stamped. there are several variations of this nail and no one knows for sure who the manufacturer of this particular nail was.
regards,
rolland
