Admittedly, I haven't been out there in a couple of years, but it can't be too often. There is still a customer (AES Industries) in Wabuska, which is now the end of Union Pacific operation. Beyond Wabuska to Thorne the U.S. Government operates the line using contract personnel. There is not much going on in Hawthorne and the Army Ammunition Base narrowly avoided closure in the last round of BRAC. Of course, the big item is the Yucca Mountain nuclear storage facility. I believe plans are to use the Mina branch as part of the new line down to Nye County (if this ever gets off the ground).
