Seattle, WA has a Nucor steel mill that produces lots of rebar. Scrap comes in by truck, rail, and barge.

The mill was earlier known as Seattle Steel Co.

On May 4, 1905, Seattle Steel Co. begins manufacturing steel products in Humphrey (later Youngstown and West Seattle). The founder is William Pigott (1860-1929), who also founded Pacific Car and Foundry Co. (PACCAR). The mill employs 140 men with a monthly payroll of $10,000.

Note that the founder of Seattle Steel was also the founder of Pacific Car and Foundry Co, in Seattle, (somewhat to the south of the SODO area) at one time a major manufacturer of rail cars.
