Tony is right about SLO back in steam days...I'll try to find a month during the War and get it on here just to show how really busy the SP was then.
I have a friend who rode a Ten-Wheeler on an extra freight out of SLO then with a Deck for a point helper. When they got to Santa Margarita, the 2-10-2 was taken off and the 2300 staggered up the valley with all that tonnage taking water at every tank until they got to the terminal at Watsonville, several hours late.
