The NWP is possibly the most popular discussion piece on this forum judging by its responses. It is also the most divided between those who see some kind of future and those who condemn it out of hand for whatever reason.

Most of the pro messages are written by enthusiasts who would like to see its return for sentimental reasons and if it makes money so much the better. The con messages are from the realists who see no future at all and for whatever reason wants its demise.

This may be political as very few railroaders actually respond. Most of the discussion is from amateurs and rail fans on both sides; those who want to spend money versus those who say it could be better spent. After all its taxes they're talking about!

But after all these years we have seen the same old arguments from both sides; in other words we have heard it all before! So unless some thing dramatic happens, like trains running, the 'fer' crowd haven't much to say and the 'agin' bunch had better come up with some fresh excuses to say why not.
