NS power on a Cascades is pretty distinctive, but that's the beauty of having a separate power car on the TALGO set -- anything can haul them.

It's certainly not the first time Amtrak has put freight power on a Cascades. Back in October 2000, a UP SD40M-2, still in SP paint, substituted on #507 from Portland to Eugene and back. I was able to photograph it at Union Station before its departure.
