Looking good...twice

On June 1, 1963 the Sierra Mountain Railroad Club of Auburn, CA. sponsored a doubleheaded excursion from Feather Falls to Land, where the Feather River Railway connected with the WP at a site soon to be underwater with the completion of the Oroville Dam. The trip used Shays 2 and 3. This shot was taken the morning of the excursion as Shay 3 was being serviced. An unbelievably calm mill pond provided a mirror image that was almost as sharp as the original.
