Any idea what those CTC issues are? Where? What happened? etc?

Once while riding the real Zephyr years ago, we got stopped on the main at a siding somewhere west of Gerlach for about three hours. Passengers were told they were "having problems with the TCS". Of course, few if any passengers knew what the heck that meant and were perplexed.

I knew what TCS meant on the WP, but still didn't really know much of anything useful, that I could explain to calm their concerns. I certainly never understood why they didn't arrange to flag through the bad area at restricted speed. Maybe the phones were down too - never did find out what actually happened.
