Sierra 50 is stuck on the Santa Cruz side, though I heard it out and about yesterday.

From the Santa Cruz Sentinel:

Another dangerous spot is the railroad tracks near Estates Drive in Aptos near Highway 1, where the ground underneath the tracks gave way Saturday. The rail line, which runs freight trains several times per week, is closed until repairs can be made.

"It looks like a culvert failed," said Cliff Walters, general manager for the Santa Cruz office of Sierra Northern, which leases the tracks from Union Pacific.

"Somehow it was not handling the amount of flow coming down the creek."

The Regional Transportation Commission won state approval in February to buy the tracks from Union Pacific to start a dinner train, but the deal has yet to close. Walters said it's unclear whether the tracks could fall in because crews need to wait until the soil dries around the area to assess the damage.

"This week's weather will help," he said.
