New Mexico was known for nasty truck diesel fuel regulations in the days before the IFTA program. They used to dip the tank when you entered the state & give you a receipt for the amount of fuel they guessed was in there. Then when you left the state, the tank would be dipped again. If you had less the 2nd time, they'd hit you with a high fuel tax, something like 20 cents a gallon. This was back in the 1970's. Maybe EwePee's fuel tax break is related to this ???
