I agree with the above comments concerning Nicoli Tesla. He was the foremost proponent of Alternating Current, whereas Thomas Edison thought Direct Current was the way to go. Of course each had much to do with refining & patenting the use of their chosen currents. The biggest problem with DC, quite literally, was the huge cable diameter that was required for power transmissions of over a few miles.
