Hey SPKid,
To answer your quesiton, the Radio Antennas you are seeing as all a part of the unfunded mandate for Positive Train Control (PTC). Also, as info. "Palmdale #2" as you once knew it, no longer exists, it is now simply called Palmdale. Also the Timetable Direction on the Mojave Subdivision is North/South, so the location you refer to is called South Palmdale. Also, UP officially calls the sidings "Passes" or "the Pass", although some Dispatchers, but not many, will indeed call them sidings. Hope this is helpful.
