It's worth noting (and adding to this thread) that our previous governor proposed closing all Nevada State museums, including NSRM. Sandoval immediately proposed keeping them open when he took office- however, he and the legislature are nowhere near talking on the same page yet when it comes to the state budget, and by law the legislature has only about another three weeks to go before they adjourn until March 2013, so this one could still go any way.
