When I lived in Hanford in 1987 the only reason SP went to
Huron was for the Harris Ranch feed lot with unit
trains of feed. I believe they trucked the grain to the ranch.
At the time they also had the popular steak house at the
interchange on I-5.

The SP Goshen Local also came out to Hanford and Lemoore
on a regular basis. And once a week it went south to Stratford.
and occasionally it went all the way out to Huron. The unit
trains usually came out after hours but this time of year
you could catch it westbound late in the day.

After seeing the local with Geeps on marginal track
it blew me away to see 4 tunnel motors pulling 100 cars of grain.
It was a case study in Harmonic Rocking. I didn't stay very
close to the tracks when it went by.

How often does the SJVRR operate their locals
and where do they tie up. -k-
