Carquinez Model Railroad Society to Purchase Crockett Odd Fellows Building.

The Carquinez Model Railroad Society in Crockett, CA will be having an open
house to raise money to purchase and restore the Crockett Odd Fellows Building.

The Grand Lodge of California Independent Order of Odd Fellows has agreed to
sell their lodge building in Crockett to the Carquinez Model Railroad Society.
The CMRS currently occupies the second floor of the building. The CMRS plans to
purchase and restore the building.

The open house runs, from 10 AM to 4 PM on Saturday and Sunday Staring June
18th, 19th, 25th, 26th and July 2nd, 3rd and 4th. The Carquinez Model Railroad
Society is located at 645 Loring St., 2nd floor, Crockett CA. across the street
from C&H Sugar Plant. $4 donation for adults and children under 16 are free
with adult.

The Carquinez Model Railroad Society will display its fully operational HO scale
model railroad. The massive layout features a mainline over 2000 linear feet of
track controlled by the latest digital computer technology. The layout is fully
operational through scenery still under construction offering the public, hobbyists and model train enthusiasts a rare opportunity to see a layout in the many stages of construction.

Highlights include scale reproductions of C&H Sugar in Crockett, a stunning reproduction of the Carquinez Strait Railroad Bridge in Martinez, and a refinery so impressive it looks like it could process real petroleum!

This model railroad layout loosely models the area from Oakland, CA to Sparks, NV, which is a segment of the route of the Central Pacific Railroad portion of the original transcontinental railroad. The timeframe is from the 1950’s to the present, thus allowing both steam and diesel locomotives to be operated.

The layout is the largest layout of its type in the Bay Area, constructed on three levels with two large connecting helixes on opposite corners of the layout. Featuring the latest model railroad technology called Digital Command Control (DCC), it allows train owners to use wireless hand held “cab” controllers and computers to operate model trains as operators; train
enthusiasts and their children follow them trains through cities, towns and other landmarks throughout of the bay area!

If you have any question please call 510-787-6703 or email gotrains@ymail.com.

We are all excited and proud of the layout we have built and the building we are
about to purchase. Please come see our large layout and our future beautiful old
building.

Thank you,

Greg Ockander
