Follow-up to the Empire Builder thread below. BNSF reports that Sunday morning's landslide at Katka, Idaho, (they say "near Leonia") was cleared and service restored at 1:00am today. That's a nearly 40-hour closure of the northern transcon. But you wouldn't know it happened from checking the name-brand RR news sites.
Yesterday evening, eastbounds were jammed up at Hauser, with two long manifests parked nose-to-FRED on the scale track, most other yard tracks full, and two of the refueling mains holding eastbound Z trains that had already fueled and were pulled up tight to East Hauser waiting to go.
