I worked for UP in 1973 and 1974 and remember the Cima trains ran pretty regularly with SD24's and SD24B's. The cars and locmotives were equipped with an auxiliary air hose - believe it was sort of an automatic retainer system where the engineer could modulate the brakes while keeping the air system charged.
