Syracuse, New York question

When in Syracuse, New York, I discovered a large imposing train station downtown on East Genesee Street. It had letters on the front that said, "New York Central Station" with the date of 1936. There are now NO TRACKS anywhere near this station. Can anyone tell me when the tracks were re-routed away from this station and away from the downtown area? The station is now in use as an office building. The present Syracuse Amtrak station is a new building way north of the downtown area next to the CSX (former New York Central?) main track.
