This would have been the 3-times-a-week Sunset with sleeping and dining service reinstated as of 10/1970. SP took a lot of grief for stuff like the Automat cars and sometimes lax housekeeping standards, but how mnay of us would jump at the chance to ride the 1971 version of the Sunset today, or the Coast Daylight? SP also no doubt suffered by comparison with the other two roads it shared LAUPT with: UP and Santa Fe.
