Excellent shots as always!

I remember taking the Daylight to school a few times, shortly before and after Amtrak took over. It didn't look like these pictures. It was more like a SDP45, a baggage car, a vending machine car, and a couple of coaches. Probably an off day, because on other occasions the train was much bigger. In one case they sold me a seat in the lounge car to get from SLO to SF because the train was officially full otherwise. Of course, many years later, there was the early morning San Joaquin (before reservations) with a closed-off car and everything else jammed, and the conductor singing out to the crowd of us at Fresno: "All Aboard! Ticket says we'll carry you doesn't guarantee a seat!" Lots of seats used in the cafe car that day! Train travel can be interesting ...
