Margaret

I am delighted that you found and enjoyed these SD45 recordings. That V20 does have its distinctive low rumble. It is a real thrill to get them into run 8 and then walk outside and listen to them roar away. Can't do that when running, of course, but I can open the door; for air flow naturally!

My recorder is a Sony ICD-SX57 solid state tiny little thing, but it amazes me with the quality of the recordings of which it is capable. Amateur to be sure but still quite good. I post train recordings on ebaumsworld, mostly because it is free and they do a good job. I have some additional recordings which I plan to post.

There are also some good recordings of the GP7 with its original 16-567-B roots blown engine. My personal favorite is the middle of the night recording of the BNSF SD40-2's.

I post videos on youtube under the handle "np560". Unfortunately a youtube search on "np560" also gives unrelated posts by np-560, but you will see my posts there.

Unlike the big outfits, EWG is pretty railfan friendly. If you ever get up to Cheney WA, check them out. They have quite the interesting roster:

2891: SD40T-2R, “tunnel motor” built Jul 1975 D&RGW 5362, UP 4049, then 8619, finally 2891. Painted UP yellow
375: SD45, built 01/1968 PC 6233, CNW 6556, to NRE, then MRL 375. Painted MRL blue
8924: SD45, built 09/1971 SCL 2024 then SBD 8924, to CXT, VMV, and MRL. Painted SBD grey
1617: GP7, built 12/1953 CB&Q 261, then BN 1617, to dealer Great Western, to Lake County RR finally to Western Rail. Purchased with Geiger spur. Being repainted into quasi NP yellow & black.

All are good units and perform well.
