The article in the Lewiston Tribune really doesn't say much. HOWEVER, one of the comments to this article does give more detail.

As one of the IDL firefighters first on the scene and having worked on the Culdesac fire over the past 24 hours, I can correctly inform you it was not the famed 'Halfmoon Trestle' that burned. It was the one of the smaller span trestles just down canyon 200 yards from where the Avista power-line crosses the canyon. When we arrived the fire was spreading rapidly uphill directly under the trestle lost, and nothing could be done to save it. Our firefighters responded rapidly and worked long on extremely steep slopes in very hazardous conditions to keep the fire from spreading further up or down the canyon to neighboring communities. I hope our citizens realize and appreciate what do for them, and pause once in a while to give us credit for what we manage to save, and not just criticize us for what we may fail to save in the course of our commitment to duty.
