Ya mean - Americans wouldn't use accelerants to burn down a highly strategic rail facility vital to the economy of a country they hate ? ? ?

Actually, it flames me every time some self-justifying politician claims Americans won't do some job, or am even reminded of such stupid notions!

We WILL WORK - HARD! By virtually all measures, we actually do work harder than almost any other people on Earth. Just watch any switch crew, or track worker, or signalman. Did you ever "sidewalk super-intend" a construction gang? What harder work is there!

We "Americans" are a quirky bunch though; insisting like we do, on wages that reflect the actual cost of providing the labor (ie. the cost of living) and expecting the dignity and respect due any human being.....

It must be something in the water!

But there are some """Americans""" who WON'T PAY the cost of living or treat employees decently - expecting government welfare to keep their employees alive; and fear to keep them quiet. And when that falls short; they will import and hire illegals who will still work for poverty (until they too wise up - and they do); or off-shore the jobs to some slave labor camp in China or India or somewhere else cheap and "corner cutting". Is that what is meant by the """Ugly American"""?

Blame these """Ugly Americans""" (many of them politicans) for the illegal immigration problem, not those who come here looking for a better life.

If they just came here legally, they could not then be blackmailed - and would then would expect the same decent wages and respect - just like the rest of us. Then the grossly un-american concept of a "Second Class Citizenry" would not be rearing its ugly head.

Oh well! I must be pipe-dreaming again - sorry!
