In March 2004, a Union Pacific switching engine repeatedly rammed rail cars until they toppled over in front of an oncoming freight train. The accident occurred at a switching yard near Division Street and Stadium Drive.

The accident was blamed on a communication problem involving a remote-control system, where the operator could not see the cars he was hitting.



Now I wonder how much financial loss that RCO crash caused, which could very well have been prevented with a regular manned switch crew.
