Espee99, I disagree. Without great composition, it won't become a great photograph. True. But composition gets you only half way there. I bet there were several people that took almost exactly the same pictures as Mitch did but that none of them ended up with such stunning photographs. The camera as a memory box is a poor substitute for what the eye saw. The electronic darkroom lets us restore what the eye saw. Mitch does that very well.

For us old guys with 40 plus year old slides, we start with what the camera saw decades ago, let the slide age, then scan it (rephotograph it electronically) dirt and all, and then try our best to make it presentable.

BTW, thanks Mitch. Why don't you show us side-by-side one of the photographs you posted as it was just out of the camera and what you finally posted.
