It was 44 years ago, March of 1967, the war in Viet Nam raged on which, a year later, would drive Lyndon Johnson out of office. I was at San Jose State College living in abject fear of the mail even though I still had my II-S student deferment. One night, on my way home from SJS I drove over the viaduct on San Carlos St. and looked down just as the Lark was pulling in.
I happened to have my camera and a tripod with me so I made a fast run over to the East end of the depot and, only with existing light, shot this photo. It was one of the first of my photos that Rob posted on the the news page and for sometime he used it as a masthead.
About 13 months later, Trains #75 and #76 would roll their last mile.
