indeed, stripping the Octopus of everything worth selling. OTOH, by weakening SP we achieved the purchase of the Peninsula ROW guaranteeing a future for Caltrain which they wanted to abolish. From a very long POV the big joke is that the Harriman descendants ended up buying the Gould "nuisance RRs" in order to restore their control of SP.
