Going through some photos in the OPR collection I stumbled upon one that looked remarkably similar to a photo that was taken in February of this year.
The first picture is of Portland Traction Company No. 100 coming up the hill from the Milwaukie Industrial Park just off what is known today as the AmeriCold spur. Track branching off to the right would be the McBrod Spur to the current OPR shops. Taken by Richard Samuels, probably in the early 1960s, who would later own both this engine and railroad today.
The second picture was taken in February of this year by Kyle Weismann-Yee and shows us using the exact same locomotive coming up the same hill, but taken only a few hundred feet further north than the original photo.
The third photo is the same view with a little different perspective, taken by Scott Lothes on the same day.
By the way, this is a 6% grade and makes for some interesting railroading. Especially going the other direction.
Thanks for looking.
