I remember that trip well. There had been a couple year's worth of jokes about the 18's last run and there was even kidding around about this run being another "Monthly Last Run". Of course, Malen was running but before we left, Jeff Forbis and CMO Al Brunello boarded the cab -- no other riders up front. We had a good run up the hill and back to McCloud. When we stopped and Jeff and Al had gotten off, Malen looked over at me and remarked, "Maybe that really was the last run." Indeed it was.

Drew, how about a followup post with the "McCloud 18's Last Crew."
