Weel said, Grumpy.
It makes me laugh/cry/fume when I hear people justify their support for non-rail transport by pointing to how few Americans ride trains, when compared to air, bus, etc. But, how can they ride trains when there are so few choices? In those places where we have frequent, comfortable, convenient service -- real service -- Americans do ride. (I refer to services such as the Cascades in the Pacific Northwest, Capitol Corridor and Pacific Surfliner services in California, and of course the Acela Express in the Northeast Corridor.)
