The hump was shut down in 2002 and the diesel shop mothballed shortly thereafter in March of 2003. I was working at Hinkle at the time and since I started at shop in Poky and had a good bead on the place, I was 'volunteered' for the job. I took no joy in assisting in the closure of the shop and sending good friends and their families to North Platte, Roper, or Hinkle. Some of them didn't get the option to relocate.

Pocatello was downsized into a small flat yard. The capacity/car blocking that vanished with the hump was absorbed by Green River, Hinkle, Roper and (for little while) Nampa.
