I'm not so sure the delays were not by design. When the UP 844 last traveled this way, after the LAUPT 50th Anniversary & side - by - side run over Cajon w/ 4449, my buddy & I bagged it at Baxter( East end bridge in Afton Cyn ). Then, figuring it was long gone we drove the UP maintenance road to Kelso, only to find the steamer still sitting there being serviced. So we paced it up to the very hill you were on at West end of Cima. Drew, did you drive back out to Interstate 15 on your chase ???
