Oakland Amtrak Engr. Al Minto retired today

Oakland Amtrak Engineer Al Minto retired today after 40 years of service with SP and Amtrak. Al hired out as a fireman on SP's Coast Seniority District of the Western Division in 1971 and was promoted to engineer a couple of years later. He went over to Amtrak when they first hired their own T&E employees in 1986. Al then worked engineer jobs in all directions out of Oakland, and most recently was the engineer on the Tues-Wed-Thurs day yard job.
