Hard to believe it's been that long...

I remember when they had F40PHs and Horizon Fleet cars the first few years; it sure beat (and beats) the hell out of taking GreyDog to Sacramento (although it took some creativity to get to the Richmond station from Vallejo using public transportation). California needs to focus more on this sort of gradual transportation improvement rather than wasting money on some pie-in-the-sky statewide HSR system that in all likelihood will be overpriced and underutilized; gradually speeding up the LA-San Diego and Bay Area to Bakersfield or Sacramento routes makes far more sense given the current economy. Of course, politicians don't think that sensibly when they do think at all...
