If you were to submit the photo again for
general usage I'll bet they'd keep it on
file because it is good. They can't begin
to publish all the good ones when a bunch of
folks contribute to this effort.

As for waiting on railfan book publishing
remember it's a niche market. Lots of factors
we have no control over determine when the
title makes print. It's frustrating but
nothing has really changed over the years.
If they get published too soon it can turn
out like a wine before it's time.
