Good catch, Rob. I was wondering if any of the locals were on the ball. Obviously you were - you might have noticed the different horn.
EWG was caught in the rather awkward position of receiving a 113 car empty grain train from BNSF at Cheney Tuesday evening and the only engine that would run was the GP7 1617. A 58 year old 1500hp GP7 with 113 empties -- no way! So a quick short term lease was arranged with BNSF for the use of BNSF 7623 and away they went - with the 1617 ON THE POINT, because it was facing west and the 7623 was facing east.
The train stalled just short of the highway 904 xing in Cheney. It was discovered that there was a minor problem with the MU cable and the 1617 had been dragging this monster train AND a 419,000# non-contributing ES44DC by itself! EVEN MORE AMAZING.
Consider - a 58-year old essentially as-built GP7 and a 6-year old ES44DC MUed and working together! Has this ever happened before? Likely not. So, Rob, you got some priceless pictures.
8924 and 2891 went west Light to Davenport on Wednesday and BNSF 7623 returned to Cheney that evening.
