The Espee's Colton depot, originally built in 1905 ???, and extensively remodeled in 1916, was indeed a survivor. Only the center section dated to the original construction. In its' later years as part of the building materials operations, it was hardly recognizable as a railroad structure to the " un - TRAIN - ed " eye. Perhaps it would have received the attention of preservationists if it wern't for its' largely forgotten location between the tracks and Interstate 10, in a noisy & industrial part of town.
