The East Portal of "Old " Cascade Tunnel was accessible by 2WD pickup the last time I tried, back around 2005. Lotsa bushes encroaching on the dirt road to scratch the paint, however this may have changed as Puget Power has the brush cleared from time to time for access to their power lines.
The Old U.S. Hwy. 2 from Steven Pass Summit down to Wellington Station @ the West Portal of Old Cascade Tunnel, despite being paved, was in poor shape when I last drove it in 2009. The pavement is broken up & even gone in many places, with lotsa bomb crater - sized pot holes.
The dirt road from Hwy. 2 up to old Alpine Station is only fair; the road up to Deception Falls bridge is better however both are summer - time only.
