On the Boone & Scenic Valley July 2009

My friend Ben and I had been up in Mason City, IA shooting the Iowa Traction Co. but they had shut down early this day so we decided to head South to Boone, IA and what we could shoot on the Boone & Scenic Valley. Over and above the railroad, it would give us the opportunity to look at endless miles of corn.

Lettered for the Minneapolis & St.Louis, RS1 #244 was pulling the regularly scheduled excursion train West out of Boone

Earlier that day, ex-CN F9 #6540 was taking a special run of the dinner train for a tour bus group. Yes, that is an ex-South Shore Combine off to the right.
