I had the pleasure of working with Hal during the 1992 HRHS Convention in San Jose. Hal just has the knack of getting things done...and in a most civilized manner. To have coordinated an event that included three mainline steam locomotives, at times simultaneously, and to have pulled it off without a hitch, is a testimony to his professionalism. He deserves praise for what he has done and for helping make the Central Coast Chapter, NRHS the respected organization that it is. Hal is also a very good photographer and a pioneer in railroad recording. I recall fondly the programs at Central Coast in the early '60 when he showed slides accompanied with taped sounds that he had recorded of the subjects. Thanks, Hal, for all the great memories and for giving us the opportunities to generate new ones.
