This engine had been leased to the Pacific Electric when built. I do not know if it was lettered that way, but it did have a rare paint scheme. The SW900s were delivered in a modified version of the tiger stripe switcher scheme with the ends of the locomovtive painted silver. Pretty snazzy looking if you ask me.
Personally, I saw plenty of scarlet and grey engines when I was younger. I would much rather see a better looking paint scheme that I never got to see from a time when the railroads were doing better than they were in the 60s and 70s. These decades were not the "good old days" of railroading. Furthermore, a paint scheme from the 50s would look a bit more "likely" next to olive green heavyweights.
