My Adlake lantern has clips which lock the handle in an upright position. It also is equipped with wadding in the kerosene holder like yours but does not leak whatver I do with the lantern. I once gave a highball to Amtrak's Lone Star and then swung the lantern vigorously with no problems. The crew was in on this and had previously made an appearance at a model railroad meet out club held. The meet ended with this "highball the Lone Star" event. I was the only one with a kerosene lantern.
